Last month I had the opportunity and pleasure to participate in an exhibit entitled Ka ike o ka Moana: The Knowledge of the Ocean, an exhibit celebrating National Oceans Month at Honolulu Hale. It was really nice having my work alongside a lot of other great artists showing their interpretation of the ocean.
I love this piece! It's so clever and I've yet to see this idea anywhere else...in fact...it looks like it could be a cover to a children's book. Has anyone told you that? This work is refreshing,
ReplyDeleteengaging, great composition, color, textures, and...I get a sense that the octopus is much amused
with his little 'show.' If this were a cover to a story, I'd open it up right away. Oh I'd just go ahead and buy it without opening the book!
Thank you very much Elizabeth; really happy that you like the piece! It was a challenge coming up with something for the show. I wanted to try something different than what I normally do, but couldn't think of anything. As the deadline quickly approached I decided to just let my picture book instincts flow and this came out, along with a few other ideas I want to work on!
